Daniel Woolf

Daniel Woolf is a historian of dual British and Canadian nationality, whose academic expertise lies in the field of history. His career has encompassed both scholarly pursuits and administrative roles within higher education. Prior to his appointment as the Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University, Woolf held positions as a professor of history and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta.

Woolf's tenure as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University began on 1 September 2009, following his appointment in January of that year. He served in this capacity for two consecutive five-year terms, having been reappointed in 2013. In 2017, Woolf announced his decision to retire from university administration at the end of his second term in 2019, and was subsequently succeeded by Patrick Deane. Upon his retirement, Woolf was conferred the title of Principal Emeritus, recognizing his service to the institution.
