American microbiologist (born 1947)

Alexander Goldfarb is a microbiologist born in 1947, who has led a multifaceted career spanning science and activism. Originally from the USSR, he emigrated in 1975 and pursued further education in Israel and Germany before eventually settling in New York in 1982. He has since become a naturalized American citizen, establishing a life and career in the United States.

In addition to his work as a microbiologist, Goldfarb has been an active advocate for civil liberties and human rights, particularly in Russia. His efforts have led to associations with notable figures such as Andrei Sakharov, George Soros, Boris Berezovsky, and Alexander Litvinenko. Due to his activities, Goldfarb has not returned to Russia since 2000, continuing his work from the United States.
