Rutka Laskier
polnisches jüdisches Mädchen, Tagebuchschreiberin
Rutka Laskier was a Jewish Polish diarist whose life was tragically cut short during the Holocaust in Poland. At the tender age of 14, she chronicled three months of her life in a diary, which would later become a poignant testament to her experiences. The diary, written in 1943, provides a unique glimpse into the life of a young girl living through one of the darkest periods in history.
Laskier's life was brutally ended in 1943 when she was murdered at Auschwitz concentration camp. Her diary, however, survived and was later authenticated by Yad Vashem. The manuscript was published in Polish in 2006, with English and Hebrew translations following in 2007. The diary has drawn comparisons to that of Anne Frank, another young diarist who documented her experiences during the Holocaust. Through her diary, Laskier's story continues to be told, serving as a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of the Holocaust on individuals and communities.
