Magnus Davidsohn

Magnus Davidsohn was a German opera singer who made significant contributions to the music world. His vocal talents were showcased in various productions, including a notable performance as King Heinrich in Gustav Mahler's 1899 production of Lohengrin. Davidsohn's career also extended to the realm of sacred music, as he served as the chief cantor of the Fasanenstrasse synagogue in Berlin from its inception in 1912.

Davidsohn's tenure at the Fasanenstrasse synagogue lasted until its forced closure by the Nazis in 1936. He subsequently left Berlin in 1939 and relocated to London, where he played a key role in founding the Belsize Square Synagogue. After establishing a new life in the UK, Davidsohn eventually passed away in Düsseldorf, West Germany, in 1958, leaving behind a legacy as a talented opera singer and devoted cantor.
