Menahem ben Saruq

Menahem ben Saruq was a prominent Spanish-Jewish philologist of the tenth century, distinguished by his expertise in literature and language. Born in Tortosa around 920, he demonstrated exceptional skills as a poet and polyglot, laying the groundwork for his future contributions to the field of Hebrew linguistics. His work would eventually take him to Cordoba, a city that would become closely associated with his life and career.

Menahem ben Saruq's achievements include the production of an early dictionary of the Hebrew language, a seminal work that underscored his dedication to the study and preservation of Hebrew.
