Robert Silverman (pianist)

Robert Herschel Silverman is a renowned Canadian pianist, born on May 25, 1938, in Montreal. He has established himself as a prominent figure in the music field, with a distinguished career as a pianist and piano pedagogue. Silverman's accomplishments have been recognized through various awards and honors, including his appointment as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2013.

Silverman's discography features several notable recordings, including a widely acclaimed 10-CD set of all thirty-two Beethoven sonatas, which was short-listed for a Juno Award. He has also received international recognition for his Liszt recording, which was awarded the 1977 Grand Prix du disque by the Budapest Liszt Society. In 1998, he became the inaugural recipient of the Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award from the Ontario Arts Foundation. Currently, Silverman resides in Vancouver with his wife, Ellen, who is also a pianist and occasional duet partner.
