Born in 1936, he went on to achieve great success in his native Ukraine and internationally, earning the prestigious title of People's Artist of Ukraine in 2003. Kofman's notable appointments include co-founding and leading the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, as well as serving as Generalmusikdirektor of the Beethoven Orchester Bonn from 2003 to 2008. During his tenure in Bonn, he was honored with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, recognizing his significant contributions to the musical landscape. In 2012, he took on the role of principal conductor of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, further solidifying his position as a respected and accomplished musician. Kofman passed away in 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence in the world of music.
