Steve Israel

Steve Israel is a multifaceted American figure, born in 1958, with a career spanning politics, commentary, lobbying, authorship, and bookselling. His political journey began as a member of the Democratic Party, and he went on to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2017, representing the state of New York. During his tenure, Israel was elected to represent two different congressional districts in New York.

Israel's congressional career included representation of New York's 2nd congressional district until 2013, after which he represented New York's 3rd congressional district until his retirement in 2017. At the end of his term, his district encompassed parts of northern Nassau County and Suffolk County on Long Island, as well as a smaller portion of Queens in New York City. Following his departure from Congress, Israel has continued to engage in various pursuits, including political commentary, lobbying, and authorship, in addition to operating a bookstore.
