Zorach Warhaftig

Zorach Warhaftig was a prominent Israeli figure, serving as a rabbi, lawyer, and politician. Born in 1906, he played a significant role in the country's early years, notably as a signatory of Israel's Declaration of Independence. His influence extended beyond national borders, as evidenced by his impact on Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara's decision to issue life-saving transit visas in 1940.

Warhaftig's political career was marked by several notable achievements. He became one of the first members of Israel's Knesset, the country's legislative body. Additionally, he authored the Law of Return, a foundational piece of legislation for the nation. Through his contributions, Warhaftig left a lasting legacy in Israeli politics and history, passing away in 2002 at the age of 96.
